A secret war is brewing in New York. First, battle below the media radar, then, watch as a deadly infection spirals out of control and the government seizes the media to stop the spread of information. Against you is Project BLACKWATCH – an elite force of Army specialists ready to stop the spread of the virus at any cost. These operatives have seen it all before, and are eager to track you down and bring you in, dead or alive. Their mandate is complete containment; even if it means everyone in New York must die.

Struggle to define what you will be. Do you assist BLACKWATCH in its hunt, or join forces with the virus and subjugate humanity? Push your powers to the limit, and unlock the genetic shackles that hold you in check.

Discover what lies beyond the edge of evolution.

Greenpeace calls for toxic-free consoles.

“Greenpeace has called on console manufacturers to use more environmentally friendly chemicals and components in the production of their hardware.

Having conducted a lab study of the Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the activist group is reporting hazardous chemicals and materials such aspolyvinyl chloride, phthalates, beryllium and bromine were detected.

The tests did show there has been some improvement, and that each manufacturer had avoided the use of individual hazardous substances in some instances. However, they also showed companies are still using some toxic materials unnecessarily.

“If manufacturers only looked at each other’s products, they’d quickly see ways of replacing their own dirty components with toxic-free materials,” The group said on its site.

“A greener, cleaner game console is possible. There’s no excuse for playing dirty.”

Greenpeace recently condemned Nintendo for coming bottom of the table in its guide to electronics, accusing the platform holder of failing to deal with its e-waste effectively and work under public eco-policies.”

Turok

RELEASE DATE: 28 APRILE 2008

With only days until the release of the game everybody is pumped up aobut it. The creators of Turok had some nice insides about the game. When asked about the game Josh Holmes, a man who had a huge contribution in the creation of this game, said the following:

Josh Holmes: Turok is a classic FPS franchise that remains well-loved despite some of the shortcomings of the later games in the original series. We were able to acquire the rights for Turok and have made a game that pays homage to the elements that made the first games on N64 so special. Turok drops you into a dangerous living jungle and forces you to face off against terrifying predatory dinosaurs as you struggle to survive. The game offers a truly unique experience, blending elements of action and stealth in a prehistoric world.

We were able to acquire the rights for Turok to make an entirely new game based on the Turok licence but with an entirely reworking of the series. This game is not a sequel or an updated version of past Turok games. This is an entirely new Turok set in a futuristic world with dinosaurs and other dangerous creatures. The only elements that carry over from the original series are a main character named Turok – Joseph Turok in our game – and dinosaurs. Everything is brand new.

This Is Vegas

PS3,Xbox 360,PC
Release Date: Q4 2008

This is Vegas is the upcoming action game from Midway that drops you into a stylized version of Las Vegas and lets you live a virtual life. The game is being developed by Surreal Software, of The Suffering fame, and takes an open-world approach. While this may sound like a setup that’s been done to death (albeit not set exclusively in Vegas), Surreal’s going in a unique, ballsy direction with the game. Rather than try to outdo the cinematic take of the gold standard for the genre, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto games, This is Vegas is taking a humorous, tongue-in-cheek approach. Surreal has tapped writer Jay Pinkerton, a former Cracked magazine editor, to help craft the game’s story. Surreal representatives say the result falls somewhere between Ocean’s Eleven and a Will Ferrell movie. As far as gameplay goes, we got a general overview and the chance to try out three short sequences from the game that gave us an idea of where it’s headed.

Haze.

So everybody has been talking about this hot new game from Ubisoft, and I was looking around and found a bunch of really interesting stuff about it.

I checked out their official website and found out something about the game but it wasn’t anything solid enough, just some key features:

Impeccable FPS credentials:

from the developers of the critically-acclaimed TimeSplitters® series and the publishers of Far Cry® and Ghost Recon® Advanced Warfighter™. Free Radical and Ubisoft have proven their ability to create innovative platform-defining FPS titles.

Become a Mantel Trooper

and fight the merciless guerrillas of the Promise Hand with the most advanced gear, the fastest vehicles, the deadliest weapons – and Nectar, Mantel’s battlefield-optimized performance-enhancing medication.

Boost your fighting abilities with Nectar,

empowering Mantel troopers with fighting abilities such as Nectar Focus, Nectar Foresight, Nectar Perception and Melee Blast. Using these skills, troopers are able to detect and avoid imminent danger as well as deliver powerful attacks in close quarters.

Mature and compelling storyline.

A tightly integrated storyline makes Haze an immersive narrative experience as well as a cutting-edge shooter.

Cutting edge gaming technology

featuring the Disparity Rendering System™ shaping the players’ views of the world on and off Nectar. Haze also features an entirely streamed experience with no loading times between levels.

State of the art multiplayer modes.

Fire up your console for online battles and choose from a variety of online modes including furious 4 player co-op action!

The fun part is that it has multiplayer campaign mode and I find this really fun.The story isn’t that dull, it’s not another space cowboy shooting everybody up, it has a compelling story.

Too bad that the game has been announced as a PS3 exclusive, I would have loved a PC version.

The trailer from E3 looks great:

Here is another gameplay video:

The Darkness

I recently stumbled upon a new awesome game: The Darkness from Take Two Interactive.

On his 21st birthday, the awesome and terrible powers of the Darkness awaken within Jackie Estacado, a mafia hitman for the Franchetti crime family. With his new powers, Jackie is able to wreak terrifying havoc on his enemies. Jackie must learn to fully command the Darkness so he can take back control of the Franchetti family, which is ruled by his uncle Paulie, a despicable man who is almost universally despised.

Features:

  • Based on the comic book “The Darkness”, created by Top Cow.
  • Game story written in collaboration with acclaimed “The Darkness” author, Paul Jenkins.
  • Experience extremely intense cinematic action in this gritty, first-person, action-adventure game with a horror twist: you are the horror!
  • Varying manifestations of the Darkness allow you to devour, impale or implode your enemies.
  • Cannibalize the corpses of your slain victims and transform them into Darklings – impish and hilarious demonites that commit unspeakable acts.
  • The absence of light feeds and replenishes the Darkness so seek the shadows wherever possible.
  • Fight your way through the dark and seedy underbelly of New York City as well as the ethereal realm of the Darkness.
  • Play as Darklings in online multiplayer games and face other players in traditional multiplayer modes as well as all-new innovative game modes.

Viking: Battle for Asgard

As Skarin, you must battle the gods of the Norse pantheon and their hordes of minions to save the mortal realm of Midgard and prevent Ragnarok.

Genre: Action
Release Date: Mar 25, 2008

Even since it was announced I loved this game, it had such high quality graphics and the fighting system was cool, even had the finish hit(when you knock out an enemy, you can finish him). But it is kind of linear, you just go from town to town killing dudes on the way, and even with the amazing graphics still get a little too boring.

Even the whole head chopping and hack ‘n slashing the game still has to prove that it can keep you playing for 13 hours, and unless his going to have a great story it will be like …Fall of liberty, which I really hoped to be a better  game…but thats a different subject.

Anyways, hope a PC version will be availible soon.
