Call of duty 5.

I’ve just saw the news, CoD 5 on it’s way. Here is what I’ve found.

A few features:

– It’s built on the Call of Duty 4 engine, and Infinity Ward has been giving feedback on the game just as Treyarch gave Feedback on COD4.

– It’s the first Treyarch Call Of Duty to have a 2-year development cycle. UNLIKE infinity Ward, Treyarch have had to make games in a year. COD3 they made in 8 months and they practically admitted at the event that COD3 could have been better.

– It features all the stuff from COD4 and more. Including the multiplayer perks, flying shooting levels, harrowing storyline.

– It looks amazing too and plays much more like Modern Warfare than COD3. No shaky shooting, story driven like COD4, COD4 style scenarios and harrowing scenes.

– It features online co-operative AND vehicle based combat.

Call of Duty: World at War is set back in World War II amid the Pacific struggle between the US and Japan.

Content is said to be as gritty and mature as any game around. Apparently the opening shows a Japanese commander stubbing a cigarette out in the eye of a prisoner before slitting his throat and turning to dish out a similar fate to you. Is that gritty and mature enough for you? Is it?

Below are some of the known details on the game, as reported by popular gaming forum, NeoGAF.

-A flamethrower will be available in the game, and is apparently based off of the design and handling of the armament in Return to Castle Wolfenstein. This lethal weapon can burn the skin off of your enemies.

-The player is able to shoot through cover, “with enough bullets, the player causes enough damage to one of the walls to create a hole big enough to walk through.”

-The game allows you to swim for the first time in the series, although movement will be severely limited, with your character only capable of walking at half speed.

-The game will feature a four-player online co-op mode, in addition to a two-player split screen co-op mode.

-COD 5 incorporates a “metagame” scoring system, whereby your earn points to unlock special co-op perks.

-One demo showcased one player attracting the attention of an enemy tank, while another proceeds to climb on top and throws a grenade into its hatch, killing its occupants.

-16 players online up to any one time.

-Game utilizes COD4 engine, “Environments are much destructible, it’s possible to burn objects or blow them to pieces. Bodies and objects float in water. Impressive lighting.”

-Lead development platform is Microsoft’s Xbox 360.

-Two year development schedule

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Call of Duty: World at War has four-way co-op

When I saw this, I was thinking, man co-op and flame throwers, this game is going to be soo awesome, can’t wait for it to come out.

“With Call of Duty: World at War, we’re re-defining what it means to play a WWII game,” said Treyarch boss Mark Lamia. “We’re excited to give players a host of new enemies that employ entirely new tactics, as well as new, groundbreaking tools – like co-op and the flamethrower – to succeed in the epic fight.”

Valve is NOT concern with piracy.

At Valve’s mini-summit on the state of PC gaming in Seattle today, president Gabe Newell revealed that the company is not concerned about the threat of piracy in the PC market.

His sentiments run counter to those of many publishers, who feel piracy is killing their PC games business. But, said Newell, Valve’s Steam distribution platform and the service it provides its customers protects it from that.

“We’ve got great facilities that make it very hard for people to pirate,” he said. “And more importantly, the service value of having an ongiong relationship with us is high enough that it causes people to not be very interested in piracy. It’s a dangerous thing to pirate one of our games because later on, when we catch you, you lose all your games, or you can’t play multiplayer.”

Earlier, Valve’s Jason Holtman explained why the company felt the fear of rampant piracy in emerging markets such as Russia and China was misplaced, and the problem easily solved.

He noted how famous the Russian market was for its piracy, and explained that this was a direct result of games releasing there six months after North America and Western Europe. It wasn’t just Steam’s encryption technology, but the ease of simultaneous worldwide releases on the platform that solved the problem for Valve.

“We know that that’s the major place where this rampant piracy myth comes from,” Holtman said. “Rampant piracy is just unserved customers.

“Russians have money, Russians like to play games and Russians have PCs. They love going to stores and not having to use Bittorrent sties.”

New OddWorld on it’s way

The Cord Weekly reports (via Shacknews) that Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun announced his involvement in the creation of a new Oddworld game during a speech at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Braun didn’t have too much to say in terms of, well, just about anything tangible — gameplay, story, where it would fit in the Oddworld universe, etc. But he did do a lot of boasting about the technology being developed to make the game a reality, which he says will involve a “revolutionary” 3D animation system that will look as good as a CG movie. “The rendering tools are getting so good now for 3D animation that you can literally create a linear animation and create a video game using the exact same objects,” Braun said. “The tools are finally getting to the level where we can come out with a show and we can come up with a game.”

Braun also had compliments for the folks at Oddworld Inhabitants that he’s been working with. “They’re such a talented group of people and I really trust their ability to create compelling content,” he said. As for when this compelling content will see the light of day, Braun said it could be “years” before the game is finished. That probably explains why specific details were so light.

Sims 3 new photos and info.

Ea has posted some photos of sims 3. Here is a fan made movie with the those photos:

Nancy Smith, President, The Sims Label speaks about one of the most successful games of all time. Here is the entyre interview.

Here are some of the features in Sims 3:

– Seamless Nhood: Your Sim can visit neighbors, parks and shops without a loading screen.
– All the neighboring Sims will live their life and age simultaniously as your Sim (They’ll get married, get jobs, etc).
– The game will ship with 1 Neighborhood.
– That Nhood will consist of about 97 different lots.
– When the game is out, you can download towns, made by other people.
– All buildings in the Nhood can be interacted with, so no prop buildings.
– Confirmed community places are: Pool, Park, Bistro, Clothing store, City Hall and Bookstore.
– The Nhood can expand by users and/or by expansionpacks.
– You can zoom out to see the whole Nhood at once or zoom in to a single Sim.

– Personality sliders are reduced from 8 to 3, one being a Fun to Stress meter. Bladder, Hygiene, etc. are still there but hidden.
– Sims 3 have Traits. Choose 5 from around 80 types like Dreamer, Evil, Playful, etc. These Traits will affect how a Sim behaves towards others and affects their moods, like the mood of an Outdoorsperson will raise when he/she is outside. An evil Sim may slap another Sim.
– Traits could be passed down, and actions a Sim does during her pregnancy will affect the traits of her offspring.
– Moodlets instead of a moodbar. If something happens like a marriage, the Sim gets a moodlet. These moodlets will affect your Sims’ mood and give abilities like learning faster. An example: Getting fired will get you a long lasting, big impact moodlet, while going to a small party will get them a short, non-dramatic moodlet.
– They will look after themselves better.
– Sims have certain skills like cooking or fishing.
– You can fulfil needs by simply clicking on an icon.
– Instead of fixed interaction (like Talk or Joke), the options are filtered on your current Mood or your Traits.
– Sims can aquire Dreams. Like if your Sim sees that a Neigbor has a big tv, your Sim can get a Dream to want one too. You decide then, to turn it into a Promise. Ignoring a Dream is ok, but ignoring a Promise gives you negative repercussions.

– You can follow your Sim in its car to work. You won’t see your Sim working though; He/She will disapear in the building.
– Advancing in career is changed as it depends on skills, personality, relationship with colleagues/boss and even certain goals that has to be fulfilled. For example taking work home.
– 2 Confirmed careers are Cooking and Science.
– Sims can take part-time jobs.

– Body can be shaped as faces were in Sims 2.
– There are sliders for weight and fitness.
– Arm and legs are seperate so you can have a fat body and thin arms.
– Sims you created fat, can become thin by exersizing, thin created people get fat by eating a lot.
– You can choose specific Asian and African models.
– You can choose a Sims’ favorite color, music type, food, etc.
– Shoes are seperate and can also choose barefoot.
– Clothes are customizable from CAS; Change the color of a certain piece of clothes or use your own patterns.

Misc:- Sims can cook and fish. Buy groceries or grow the food yourself.
– The game has been made so that will also run smoothly on older PC’s.
– Clothes, furniture and homes can be customized.
– You can use your own patterns/colours and then apply it to anything through a drag-and-drop interface.
– The game will have modding tools built into it.
– There’s no online multiplayer
– You can pick up items (garbage, books, etc) yourself with a Hand cursor.
– Wind will move the trees.
– Paintings that a Sim makes, will be unique to each Sim. It’s based on its personality and mood.

Things that will not change:
– Sims still talk in Simlish
– Sims can still pee their pants, die of hunger, etc.
– Confirmed ages: Baby, Children, Adult, Elder.
– There are still thought bubbles that tell which needs must be fulfilled like Hunger. These bubbles show in the control panel though and not hover over the Sims’ head.
– Sims still have an inventory system to put things in like groceries.
– There will be expansions (duh).
– There are still same-sex couples and they can still adopt children.
– You can still design, build, and furnish a home.,397382,index.html
